Mohammed Osman

Mohammed Osman was born in 1972 in Mahabubnagar, Andhra Pradesh, and took his degree in painting at the JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad. He began as a muralist, and it shows in the flat, bold colour of his paintings of rural southern India: women with wide eyes and large bindis, men with strong features, and animals dressed for festivals, above all Gangireddu, the decorated bull of Pongal. He works in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. He has shown in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad, and in Birmingham and San Francisco, and lives and works in Hyderabad.
