Paresh Maity

Paresh Maity was born in 1965 and received the Padma Shri in 2014. He has held seventy-nine solo shows in India and abroad. "Watercolours are my heart and soul," he says, and he has a command of the medium that few can match, though he works on canvas and other surfaces too. His subjects range from the dunes of Rajasthan and the backwaters of Kerala to the canals of Venice and the lake at Geneva, in strong colour and geometric form, and he has also worked in abstraction.
