Pooja SI

Pooja SI was born on 31 May 1991 in Nanjangud, Karnataka, into a family of artists. She took a BVA in painting at Stella Maris College, University of Madras, and an MFA in painting at CAVA, University of Mysore. Her work is abstract: colour, geometric shape, line and texture arranged into rhythmic compositions, with the kaleidoscope as a recurring idea and Paul Klee, Malevich, Kandinsky and Mondrian as touchstones. She connects geometry to the three gunas of Hindu philosophy and aims at the qualities of sattva: balance, clarity and joy. Exhibitions include Intercepting Kaleidoscope at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and the Busan International Art Fair, Korea, and she received the Judges' Choice Award at the Bombay Art Society's 123rd All India Annual Art Exhibition in 2015.
