Siddhant Shingade

Siddharth Shingade is from Marathwada in Maharashtra, and his tall figures, wrapped in history, come from there. The browns and golden yellows are the warmth of the region; the sombre mood reflects the hardship of its people, and of its women in particular, in a place that lives with drought. Skin, branch and soil share the same tones. Awards include the Maharashtra State Special Award and the Karnataka Royal Shield (first prize) from the Indian Royal Academy. He has shown across India and in Italy, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Mongolia.
